Graceville Vocational Youth Center
CCC #2008-02913

Complaint

This weekend at Graceville Vocational Youth Center one of the youth asked to call the abuse line which is his right. He was denied and became involved in a verbal exchange which included the staff taunting and antagonizing him. The staff member bumped him twice with his chest and cussed him. The youth eventually pushed him away. The staff then had him arrested. He sits in the Jackson County Jail, 17 years old and denied his rights to call abuse. I have witnessed him in the past denied medical treatment and made the butt of racial remarks. This looks like it was done to be vindictive. Obviously the report favors the staff although other staff and youth witnessed. There are no cameras to protect the youth and I have seen this happen more then once. The media and officials need to question this. Please let me know what I can do. [Click here to read original message]
