On March 10, 2006, Ken Pifer, DJJ's Assistant Secretary for Detention Services, provided direction to all detention centers regarding youth access to reading material. Included in those directions is 'reading materials will be permitted in the youth's room if the youth's behavior is appropriate.' Scroll down to read the two-page memo.
