Sometimes the best get it wrong

The following is a short exchange of e-mails between Justice4Kids' Cathy Corry and St. Petersburg Times Tallahassee bureau chief Steve Bousquet. It is Wednesday, January 16, 2008. DJJ Secretary Walt McNeil has just accepted Gov. Crist's offer to head Florida's Department of Corrections. Bousquet reported the move. Corry asked why no mention of McNeil's successor at DJJ. Bousquet replies to Corry that Gus Barreiro is successor to McNeil.  This proves the old adage: "Get it first but get it right!" Follow the e-mail trail.

Glad you updated your story about 'The soft-spoken McNeil' and his controversial master's degree.

Your story omits any mention of who will replace McNeil at DJJ, permanent or interim. Crist would be a fool if he appoints DJJ Deputy Secretary Rick Davison! Rick is an incompetent liar who has been micromanaged by Walt. I'm just one of many who despise Rick Davison.

Ask former DJJ HQ employee Rod Wenzel 850-219-1175, who prevailed in a lawsuit against DJJ several years ago, and writes "Rick Davison trampled my Constitutional rights and did not have the intelligence or concern for civil rights to even recommend due process."

Also Ask current DJJ HQ employee Jane McNeely, 850-224-1978, who has recently filed for whistleblower protection primarily regarding an accusation toward her that appears to have been orchestrated by Rick Davison.
