Messages Home | Up | April | May | June These are e-mail messages received by justice4kids.org about Florida's Department of Juvenile Justice and its facilities. Messages are about staff, youth or general conditions within the DJJ. The only way conditions within the Department will ever change is when people speak out. If you have knowledge of abuse or neglect of children, discrimination or unfair treatment of staff, then tell us. To send us a message, click here. 06/28/04 Parent: Southern Glades: one person can make a difference This message is for Cathy, I just wanted to let you know that my son is doing much better. I assume you know that by the recent press coverage on southern glades youth camp. I have to tell you one person can make a difference and I did. I never gave up and persistence paid off!!!! I have been asked to be a parent advocate and I am going to try it. I was offered the job from a public defender. I do have a full time day job, so we'll see. I received an email from Mr. Chervanik, and he is still actively involved in following my son's progress. I have you to thank for all of this!!!! You gave me the knowledge and I used it. 06/27/04 DJJ: TOO much stress, too little pay Where is our m-----f---ing pay? TOO much stress, too little pay. Give us something to work for. Give us some money, show us you appreciate our hard work. 06/27/04 JDC: Fear pervades the employees throughout DJJ Fear pervades the employees throughout DJJ. Everyone is so concerned about litigation and being sued that they don't look enough at what we're really here for: the kids. A big problem I see: the paperwork at JDC's is a nightmare with requirements for documentation on everything including room checks; the emphasis on submission of complete documentation on every aspect of a juveniles stay in DJJ amounts almost to a phobia with a fear that without documentation someone later will make an allegation against a JJJ employee. The paperwork requirement wouldn't be a problem if we had the manpower but most facilities are understaffed and JDO's and Supervisors pay the price by getting so bogged down in completing paperwork that they lose sight of properly supervising juveniles. To the politicians in Tallahassee: I propose a significant reduction in the paperwork requirement at facilities or at least an administrative review to look at ways to 1) reduce unnecessary reports and forms and 2) make the job of JDO's and Supervisors easier and less stressful. Most facilities work the JDO's so hard that after a few years they just burn out. This is unfortunate and unnecessary; too bad that the people running DJJ either can't see that or don't want to admit it. I have absolutely no respect for the DJJ hierarchy because I know that many of the administrators are simple bureaucrats just bidding their time until they can retire with a state pension - what a sad situation! 06/27/04 DJJ: high ranking individuals protected the private providers & staff are fearful of administrators who retaliate Let me begin by telling you something about myself. I was employed in the first maximum risk program in Florida, Level 10, later known as juvenile prison. This was before there was an Residential Commitment Manual or Q.A. Standards Manual that address Maximum Risk needs. I worked closely with DJJ Legal and Central Placement, became a Quality Assurance Peer Reviewer and was trained on JJIS, but most important reported "A" and "B" list incidents to the DJJ Office Of The Inspector General. I was employed by a private provider. During the time period of 1995 to 2001 I was exposed to every aspect of residential commitment and the agency known as DJJ. I knew the private provider did not give a damn about the youth or the community. What did shock me was how many DJJ high ranking individuals protected the private providers even after they had first hand knowledge of gross abuse. When Perry Turner was DJJ IG he had no problem addressing a program directly if abuse was identified, Lynne Winston appeared to have problems with this. Lynne Winston is well aware that program staff want to report abuse and gross neglect even if program administrators don't, she is well aware that staff are fearful of administrators who retaliate if they do report. This has been an issue for years, which includes a facility being able to call 911. Let me reiterate, I can state that Lynne Winston is aware that residential commitment staff can be prevented from calling 911 from the facility, youth can be prevented form calling the DCF Child Abuse Hotline or DJJ IG Hotline. It did not take the death of Omar to make her aware, she was made aware prior that this was an grave issue. I want to communicate to Rep Gus Barreiro and Mr. Schembri there is a lot I could share with them because the issues before them have been first hand knowledge to many DJJ individuals. The Office of The Inspector General DJJ has all IG reported incidents and findings on file, John Forshaw use to be over that I am not sure who is now. Is five day notice for the mini inspections and unannounced inspections? Is the five day notice for QA Reviews (mini inspection) and unannounced inspections a response to calls made to the DJJ A and B List Hotline. Can you please tell me how a corporation, which is CSCQ/YSI, who once operated Pahokee Youth Development (history gross abuse), operated Polk Youth Development (history of gross abuse), Cypress Creek Academy (history of gross abuse) and was ran out of other states such as Maryland by public officials, GIVEN A CONTRACT TO OPERATE MARION YOUTH DEVELOPMENT A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR JUVENILES? Maybe this question should be referred to Carolynn Floyd, Quinton Jones or William Starke. I am very hopeful that more aftercare, community control and independent living programs are developed and available in all the circuits in Florida. Stop JPO's from terminating supervision and jurisdiction with the committing courts right after a youth is released from an residential commitment program. They only do this to get the youth off their case load and so they won't have to find or provide needs identified and not provided by the commitment program. Make private providers provide all services and needs they have contracted to provide. Bring the treatment element back to residential commitment programs. Inspect what you expect!!! 06/23/04 JDC: lack of communication between the administrators and the personnel Knowing how to talk with people and interact with them is a skill. As a JDO working on shift I frequently experienced changes to my working hours and realized that the administrators making these changes would not take the time or effort to notify me in a timely manner. Only after I complained (loudly) about this did I finally get advance (by at least 24 hours which I consider reasonable) notification of changes instead of finding out about the changes when I reported for work the day the changes were effective. The administrators need to use common sense (I'm not talking about book smarts either; just having a degree doesn't make someone competent) when dealing with their personnel. I noticed a lack of respect for the personal lives and time of many JDO's which was reflected in the lack of communication between the administrators and the personnel working the floor. Just telling JDO's that they can expect their working hours to be "flexible" because they happen to work on a shift shouldn't give the person assigning the hours carte blanche in making changes without giving that individual a reasonable notification. 06/22/04 JDC: Once in a while it is nice to hear praises It takes a TEAM to run any shift, in any facility...We hear it all the time...Work as a team....That includes the Superintendent and his/her ADS. To all of you in upper management...Once in a while it is nice to hear praises....We all understand that problems need to be addressed in our briefings...But every now and then...It would be nice if our briefings were started on a good note. We hear everyday the negative...This is not getting done, and that is not getting done....Why? Because one we are over worked and under staffed. Doing 16 hour shifts on a regular basis is really getting old. Especially when upper management is not around that many hours, days, and weekends. It is just plain demoralizing to hear everyday our poor performances...Once in awhile it would be nice if a briefing was conducted, and only praises were handed out. We all need that once in awhile. To the ADS who want to watch us conduct business on a daily basis from a camera in your office, and then come over the radio and question us, in front of our detainees, and for everyone in the facility to hear...It is not appreciated...If you are going to call us out in front of our detainees and fellow employees, try saying something nice once in a while. It boosts morale. It makes the detainees aware that they are being watched and that the mod and officers are doing a good job (for once). This goes for Osceola, Orange and Brevard, and any private run facility. Brag us up once in awhile and you may see some positive attitudes from your officers and detainees. It is not hard to give praise. We don't get much more than that. So ADS and Superintendents and even the Supervisors. Think before you speak. It can make a difference in having a good day or a bad attitude! A good day or a bad day. For those of us that do a good job everyday. Keep up the good work. Praise each other and your detainees. It can make a world of difference. It can keep you, and all we are involved with have a better attitude! From me to all the JDOS, SJDO, JDO, AND DETAINEES...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....HAVE A GOOD DAY, CONTINUE TO WORK HARD, SOMEDAY IT JUST MAY PAY OFF! 06/21/04 DJJ: It is time to flatten the management tower I am, sadly , still an employee of DJJ and must say that Bev's analysis hits the mark. The agency is being crushed by its own weight of bureaucrats that try to control employees' thoughts, work ethic, speech, and associations. It is time to flatten the management tower. And, private providers should be ashamed of their unabashed chase for the dollar. The agency is simply a brokerage firm. People who get the contracts aren't necessarily entitled to them. The public probably doesn't know that this is a multi-million dollar industry. The new Secretary needs to realize FAST that he is out of his element, that everyone at DJJ is sick of little sayings and clichés that management seems to feel constitute real understanding and that he should not take the providers and vendors whining as truthful or accurate. They are not--yet they certainly do run this agency. How sickening it is that after a year, Omar is simply another dead child. WHAT REALLY HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED AND WHY WAS AN ADULT JAILOR PICKED OVER SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN? Probably because Jeb Bush thinks he can control Anthony better? 06/20/04 JDC: Care & Feeding of Newly Hired JDO's Care & Feeding of Newly Hired JDO's: One thing I noticed as a newly hired JDO is the lack of training and mentorship. More emphasis needs to be placed on training and mentoring new hires; as a newly hired JDO I was only given a priority of performing room checks. 06/19/04 DJJ-JDC's: Management needs to get away from the "us vs. them" mentality Having recently resigned my position from a JDC I feel well qualified to speak on what should be changed to make DJJ better place to work and safer for the children: 1) Management needs to get away from the "us vs. them" mentality. The administrators that I saw at DJJ acted like they were completely separate from the JDO's and Supervisors working in the facility. Rarely did I see an administrator on the floor and when I did it was like a major event (especially if the superintendent happened to come on the floor to look around). Little things like making themselves available to the staff several times during the day, spending more time on the floor and with staff and making an effort to work with the JDO's and Supervisors goes a long way in showing support. Lip service is hollow and everyone sees throught it (in other words don't tell us, show us!). 2) The facility I worked at seemed to have all of the "prima donnas" working the 7-3 shift. Also, most of the back-stabbers and suck-ups seemed to be on this shift as well. The other two shifts (3-11 & 11-7) are the most arduous and rarely did I see those other two shifts getting any support from either the administrators or the 7-3 shift. I think that a "shift differential" should be payed to the hard working JDO's and supervisors working the 3-11 and 11-7 shifts or at least some kind of incentive to help the morale. 3) There are good people working in DJJ and most of the them I saw were the JDO's and a only a few supervisors; all of the administrators I saw were deliberately isolating themselves from the day-day operations of the facility (my guess is to protect themselves in case something went wrong). Of all the JDO supervisors I saw only about 2 or 3 were truly interested in helping JDO's perform their job and helping them with providing tools and resources to manage and supervise the kids; the rest of the supervisors I saw were self-serving and selfish who only seemed to have their own interests in mind and were spineless when it came to matters involving JDO's & the administrators. I'm not leaving my name on this posting because unfortunately I cannot trust the managers of DJJ. I truly miss working with the kids and the JDO's but I don't miss the management! 06/18/04 DJJ Some depend on this sight to get the message across I used to come on this sight every day.....However when it is only updated once a week, it becomes very boring.....Please update this sight on a daily basis....Other wise it will not be on my "favorites". This sight is for the kids....you need to keep us updated on a daily basis! Please do not lose track Cathy.....We depend on you....Some depend on this sight to get the message across and to keep the message going.....Don't stop now! God bless you and those that you speak for! 06/03/04 DJJ: get rid of carolyn floyd; ask her about cypress creek get rid of carolyn floyd she is just as dirty as the rest of the trash they got rid of at djj ask her about cypress creek 05/31/04 DJJ: I'm a father of two currently dealing with DJJ. I find this site very helpful for parents. I also find this site to be VERY negative at times. I'm a father of two and currently dealing with DJJ. All I see is mostly negative posts about different programs/jdc what about the positive things they do? What about recidivism rates isn't that what it all boils down to to rehabilitate these children to go back into the community? What about being responsible for your behavior. What is the state supposed to do look the other way when these kids break the law over and over again have you ever heard of shocap? I Know there is problems and these kids need to be in programs with a more therapeutic approach rather than warehousing them, but unless they has a mental health problem they should know better. Remember most of these kids have victims. We the parents a partly to blame but again I don't see any of that here. I would really like your feedback on this PLEASE e-mail me back --thanks---John 05/28/04 DJJ: Bush and his republican thinking will create nothing but havoc Florida is a cheap ass state. You get what you pay for and that is quite clear with DJJ. Now we are not getting a raise. I, for one, will continue to give a 110% but I can see right now there is gonna be a lot of frustrations on behalf of my co-workers, and it is gonna show in their performance. You cannot treat these people they way you have and expect productivity to come. Bush and his republican thinking will create nothing but havoc. A Djj Staff. 05/25/04 Osceola JDC: They don't care about these kids all they want is cheap labor. Those of us that have worked at DJJ for any length of time know how money conscious the State is or should I say cheap. They don't care about these kids all they want is cheap labor as long as the fat cats at the top get theirs. Look at this bonus issue. Last year at Osceola only the Superintendent Hoffman got a bonus. Even though we got deemed status. We did finally get some cheap ass pins that they expect us to wear proudly. This year they said they changed they way bonuses would be given out and that nine people would get them. Where are you who got them? Why should it be a secret? I think it's borders on fraud and an investigation is needed. I bet Hoffman and Chenault and all those other "good old boys" got their payoffs. What did they do to deserve any money? Now we are being ripped off again by getting no raise. When are we going to learn? Am I the only one that knows what is going on? We can't just quit, let's fight for our rights. 05/21/04 Orange JDC: only been with the Department a short time; I am ready to move on already. I have only been with the Department a short time, and only on this site this once, but I have to say, I am ready to move on already. I have never worked in a place where there was so much hate and jealousy. Nor have I ever worked with more people, supervisors and administration alike that cared less for the people in their work place. I really wanted this job and was excited about being hired, and now I guess maybe I made a mistake. Maybe you all could prove me wrong? And welcome Mr. Isabelle, maybe you can make a difference. 05/12/04 JDC: The quick fixes are more than burdensome The quick fixes are more than burdensome. They have made the job impossible to do without serious sacrifice of what employees are entitled to, and yet there is more to come. While protecting yourselves, you are choking the life from employees. It's really a shame that many excellent once dedicated employees are seeking a way out so they can breath again. The only thing preventing mass exodus at this time is today's job market. However in time even that will change and then what DJJ? What will you do then with the monster you created but can no longer control? What will you do when whips and threats no longer have an effect and your slaves suddenly break camp and some even visit the Big House? What will you do DJJ? What will you do? More directives perhaps? 05/06/04 Orange JDC: stop acting like youre the detainee. Why get Mr. Ortiz in trouble? On the topic dated on 5/5/04 about a detainee being threatened, I believe it is a staff on the 6-2 shift that wrote this comment. Ya'll need to stop acting like if youre the detainee. Why get Mr. Ortiz in trouble? Ya'll work with the man. We all know that the detainees do not know how to write well or spell correctly. We do read the youth request forms. They have poor grammar. This particular staff that wrote this should be ashamed of themselves. Words like "AFFRONTED by the lack of" loose cannons and then they wrote "these are children". Ya'll got issues. Officers as such is making the morale at DJJ suffer tremendously. What kind of desperate act is this to get a fellow officer roped off? 05/05/04 Orange JDC: i was threatened with rape and murdeer HI.My name is lets say...Lealn Timhs..and i stayed at ORJDC on michigan 05/02/04 DJJ: Denman as Poster Boy Denman is an ASS. Maybe you should make a poster of the back side of a donkey ass and put Denman's picture on it. He can be the poster boy for all the ass hole's in DJJ. 05/02/04 DJJ: degrading remark about our troubled youth How dare anyone in this system, say such a degrading remark about our troubled youth..." a poster child for abortion" These young ladies, as troubled as they may be, do not need anymore negatism in their lives! You my friend need to check yourself for being ignorant....I surely hope you don't have any little girls growing up in your own family. If you do they are already at risk...Get yourself together man, and hope that your daughters are raised, in a strong, loving home, with no criticism...maybe then they will be good girls, and not poster childs for abortions." Hopefully that never happens to you...but if it did...what is your choice?......love her, or have her rip her baby from the womb, cause granpa can't handle it?.....Think about that old man? Or old women! You reap what you sow, and the apple doesn't fall from the tree...you rotten apples, deserve to fall and rot on the ground! ACTING SEC GEORGE DENMAN IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE REMAINS OF THIS AGENCY. FIRST WE HAD TO DEAL WITH YEARS OF ABUSE UNDER ALARCON AND LUMPEE. NOW HIM. GEORGE, YOUR COMMENTS TO DJJ STAFF WHEN YOU REFERRED TO GIRLS IN OUR CUSTODY AS HOW DID YOUR SAY IT ? POSTERGIRLS FOR ABORTIONS? HOW DARE YOU. ON WHAT RESEARCH DO YOU BASE THESE REMARKS. YOU ARE TASTELESS, TACTLESS, CLUELESS. TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO LISTEN TO YOUR OWN DRIVEL SINCE YOU WONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE--YOU OWE THE DJJ STAFF WHO HAD TO SIT THERE AND LISTEN TO YOUR LOCKER-BOY SNICKERING AN APOLOGY. YES, EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT--EVEN PROVIDERS. YOU OWE THE DJJ PROGRAM PROVIDERS AN APOLOGY. IS THAT HOW YOU AND GOOD OLE BOYS AT DOC TALK ABOUT PROGRAMMING FOR WOMEN? OH RIGHT THERE IS NO PROGRAMMING FOR WOMEN, NO EDUCATION, NOT VERY MUCH OF ANYTHING. WHY IN THE WORLD ANYONE WOULD PICK YOU TO FILL IN IS BEYOND ALL OF US. SOMEONE PLEASE GET A LEADER IN PLACE AT DJJ WHO UNDERSTANDS THE NEEDS OF YOUTH. GEORGE, APOLOGIZE TO THE GIRLS IN DJJ AND ALL WOMEN IN THIS SOCIETY FOR YOUR TASTELESS AND UNINFORMED COMMENTS. YOUR NEXT POSITION SHOULD BE ON THE TREE OF SHAME. 04/30/04 Osceola JDC: Mr Hoffman: your staff keep venting About Sgt. R. Taylor's response on April 16th...that definitely goes along with the kind of person she truly is.We do believe that this so called professional WILL say something like that.Everybody knows the filthy mouth that she has. That's one of her ways in trying to intimidate people and she does abuse of her position as a Supervisor.....all of us have experienced it. So dear Sgt. R. Taylor don't try to make everyone believe you would not react this way. Again Mr. Hoffman we had warned you to watch yourself from Sgt. R. Taylor she's the MAIN reason IG came into your facility and did an investigation. She is a wolf dressed in lamb skin. Beware of the monster Taylor that lurks within your facility and tries to befriend you. She does not want to see Officers move up because she is so afraid that her position will be taken from her. Isn't that why Officer Guerra resigned. That professional man could have definitely been an awesome Supervisor for all of us in the department. We all had the opportunity of working with him a number of time. He was definitely a team player and not a team slayer. Sgt. Taylor the team slayer that should be her rank. Isn't that what you do Sgt. Taylor when they intimidate you. You try to get them to resign or try to get them fired. Way to go Team Slayer!!! Mr. Hoffman you have lost a couple of good officers and even gotten rid of a couple of not so good officers ....but you have yet to get rid of the worst one....need we say her name. We believe you already know who she is. We wish you the best in getting the thorn out.....the team slayer! 04/30/04 Orange JDC: ...too busy gossiping and becoming argumentative. I will be resigning. This mandatory meeting that occurred today was a complete waste of time. Mr. Isbell, everything you addressed today fell on deaf ears. Butler you need to sit your behind down and stop acting like you do so much around in the facility. You could always take a person out of the ghetto but not the ghetto out of them. You speak to people like if we were imbeciles. You're always boasting that you have a degree, from an unaccredited college and that you managed so many people but yet you can't even run your shift. You favor idleness in your employees and compliment them on an outstanding job. The officers that actually do work need the recognition, not your two rovers who take 6 hours to stack up linen, nor your other employee who sits to do a form for at least 8 hours. The post assignments need to be abolished, it is not fair to others who have to run the mods. Last week I had to stay blue dotted because two extra bodies were laying around on the computer inside master control or gaining browning points. These special people should also be on the floor if they are not needed for their special duties. When we ask them to break us they come up with an excuse, "oh that's a negative" Now what is that? They emphasize teamwork but no one is partaking, they are too busy gossiping and becoming argumentative. Evidently, I will be resigning. So all I have left to say is "FUCK YOU AND Orange DJJ." Dear Mrs. Corry; I write to you to let you know that our detention centers in Hillsborough County are just as bad as the ones in the rest of the State. I'm a parent of child that has been at both detention centers at one time or another, but I'm writing to you to let you know about our experience with the JDC East. My son was apprehended and put in that DC, (NOV '03) they call me from the JAC to ask me the usual questions about health and so on. As always I am sure to tell them he is asthmatic and he usually carries his inhaler with him. This time he did not have it. Well, around 1 am he started to feel bad and I received a call from the JDC that he was wheezing. I asked the Officer if he had seen the nurse and they told me they did not have one on duty. I also asked the officer to let me speak to my son to ascertain the situation. When my son was put on the phone I could hear him wheezing over the phone!! I told the officer that my son was in bad shape and in need of medical attention. I was told they could not take him to the Hospital because they were not authorized to do so, only their superintendent could do that. I ask them to call the him and the answer I got was that they would wait until the nurse came in. The nurse does not come in until 7am. I asked and pleaded with them to take my son to the hospital, I also asked them to call 911, they refused. I hung up and called them myself, guess what... the 911 operator told me this was not their problem. Well to make a long story shorter, my son was sent to the hospital for treatment, only after the nurse came in at 7 am that morning. He miss his court appearance, but I did not and I told the Judge what had happened, and he released him to me that day... I something would had happened to my son... well lets just say He and I are lucky... By the way I also called the area supervisor, their version of internal affairs called me and I got to relate to them my story. They got back to me the next day and said it was all a misunderstanding and that the officer I talked to had been reprimanded... So how that did no satisfied me, I still think that if something was to happen to a kid in that Center the same thing or worse would go on... Thanks for your work, AJZ 04/23/04 DJJ The State is making us scared to do our job The Majority of these "kids" are serious criminals who will some day occupy our prison system. The State is making us scared to do our job and i for one am not going home hurt to my family because some "kid" wants to act-out. 04/23/04 Osceola JDC my office is the first door when you come thru Bravo door. Mrs. Ileana My friend!!!!! Yes you the one that wrote about me. Have the gutts and come face to face with me. I will proof you wrong. I do not favor any body, I favor myself, but if you try me you find me. You are a little bit wrong, just a little bit!!! Treat me with respect and I will treat you the same. I know who you are and guess whatI DON'T CARE. I will still sleep every night the WHOLE NIGHT. And by the way my office is the first door when you come thru Bravo door. YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME. Thank very much.... 04/22/04 DJJ "helpless children" attack officers and beat them unconscious Stop blaming DJJ and start blaming the parents! I stole some cards ONCE from a convenience store when I was a child. When my parents found out, I NEVER stole anything EVER again. Why? Because my father beat my ass, that's why. Parents today are so scared they're children are going to call HRS or DCF on them. Do you know what my parent's told me? "Go ahead and call them so they can take you away and live with someone else." Justice for Kids? Sounds more like "Absolve parents of their guilt". Oh, by the way, if you're not certified by the state of Florida to work with juveniles, how the hell do you know what's right and wrong? You don't! I am certified and have seen these "helpless children" attack officers and beat them unconscious to escape. EVERYONE in the courtroom should be handcuffed and shackled to minimize injury to themselves and others and to prevent escape. Why don't you hippies find something better to do, like teach parents how to discipline their children! 04/21/04 Osceola JDC favoritism; racism; so called investigation by the IG Is there favoritism at Osceola Juvenile Detention Center, you decide for you're self. We will start with Illeana a person who works in administration. Now Illeana is suppose to supply staff with clothing that they will need in order to attend work. Now I am not going to say that you have to be a certain race (Puerto Rican) in order to receive such supplies like pants, shirts and boots. Nonetheless the officers whom you see in her office chatting and gossiping about who knows what all ways seem to receive their work items in a timely fashion. Other staff on the other hand who are not a favorite of hers have to ask repeatedly in order to receive their items. For example there is or was a black officer who worked out there and that person had torn a hole in their work pants. They proceeded to put a temporary patch on the pants until they could receive another pair of pants by the person who supplies the uniforms which is Mrs. Illeana; however, it took a few months for this staff to receive another pair of pants. Just one example that staff who do not decide to make going out of their way to please some administrators or secretaries, in this case happy. Now how it should be. There is another secretary that works in administration. An employee does not have to make visits on a daily basis or bring their children or babies into her office to receive kindness. An employee can go days or a months with out seeing her and they can still expect to receive pleasant and professional treatment. Her name is Sue and she is the HR of the OscJDC building. Now pay simple attention because this is the core of the problem at this facility. The staff who do a good job and take care of their responsibilities are not treated eminent (good). The staff that runs to Mr. Hoffman's office to whisper every event that goes on in the facility or that shows loyalty by alliance & friendship, they are the one's who receive distinguished treatment, not the employees that show up to do their jobs and do what they are paid to do. This is the core of the problem and what Mr. Richard Hoffman fails to provide for his Officers & staff. One last thing that I would like to comment on and that is the very small so called investigation that was provided by the Inspector General better known as the IG. They came out to Osceola to investigate the claim of racism at OscJDC. The staff that were asked about the problem of race were predominantly white. Now I am not saying that it is a race problem but I truly believe that there is a big ethical problem that is present. For example at times there is one Officer with 16 to 20 detainees on a mod when there is a extra person to be rover. Of course if this is asked it will be denied even so it has happen and still does. I appreciate this forum to express my feelings. 04/20/04 Orange JDC: being treated like slaves; being ignored; stop the abuse now. It is such a disgrace that we are being treated like slaves at Orange Detention Center. Starting with the superintendent and ending with the supervisors they are expecting why too much. All the JDOs and SJDOs are getting fed up with the mental and emotionally that has taken a toll out of us. We are struggling to understand why such pressure and burden has been given to us. We understand the fact that we need to do a good job and work 8 hours a day. We do not understand why we are threatened and forced to do duties that should belong to another staff. Our morale will continue low. We are being treated very cruel. We have no input on any of our meetings. They are all being rejected. We are so sick of working blue dots. We get punished when somebody calls in sick. We must work an extra 8 hours. Our families do not mean anything to DJJ. We must do the work of 2 staff or more. They do not have feelings for us. We work hard to earn a very low income salary. We cannot even provide for our families. Some staff work another job to make ends meet. DJJ wants to get into our personal lives. They do not want to pay us overtime and at the same time not let us work a second job. No wonder good staff keep on quitting. We are fed up with the superintendent and asst. superintendents. They show no consideration. They all need to sit down with us and learn our jobs before changing things around. It is very stressful when you are being ignored by everybody. Stop hurting us. Let's stop the abuse now. 04/20/04 DJJ: DJJ employees, GO BACK TO SCHOOL!! You can learn proper ENGLISH. Its a pity when there are DJJ employees who cannot write or complete a simple 3rd grade sentence. People before you air a comment, CORRECT your grammar. My mother would always tell me "school is very important". Now, I know why she stressed the issue. DJJ employees, GO BACK TO SCHOOL!! You can learn proper ENGLISH while you're sitting there watching the detainees in class.. and there is such a thing as a WEBSTER DICTIONARY!! 04/19/04 Three Springs: Broward staff members engaging in relationships with residents; staff sleeping I think that being a staff at the three springs of Broward sex offender employee that the residents don't have the proper clothing given to them and how they have to wear each other clothes no matter what the condition of them when they have a supply of new clothing lock up in the control room and not given to them until going through QA. And that you have staff members engaging in a relationship with residents and abusing, them when upper management try and cover each incident up. Mr. Carlton Wright, Ms. Barber Battle, Mr. Block and his wife Mrs. M. Cruz before the new Program Director Mr. Black came abroad. I really think that it unfair when the residents are not getting the proper food that is require for them, the residents their are losing entirely to much weight that the parents needs to found out while their kids are losing so much weight. You also have the 10pm-6am staff sleeping on their hall and in the control room playing there games and not monitoring the halls until they fall asleep in the control room. The Unit coordinator Mr. C. Wright is aware they are sleeping on the 10pm-6am shift and not doing anything about it his statement is and I quote, "AS Long AS the Residents are Not SEXUALLY MISBEHAVING, HE DOESN'T CARE." But the program is suppose to be a non-sleeping facility. EMPLOYEES NEEDS TO BE AWAKE ON THEIR HALLS AS ASSIGN. I DISAGREE WITH THEM AS FOR AS WHEN RESIDENTS PARENTS BRING IN THEIR HYGIENE AND NEW CLOTHING THAT THE RESIDENTS CAN'T GET THEM THEY ARE LOCK UP AND THAT THEY HAVE TO WEAR THE OTHER RESIDENTS NASTY DIRTY UNDERWEAR BECAUSE MS. BATTLE FIGURE SHE DON'T WANT TO GIVE OUT NEW ONES FOR HER OWN UNSELFISH REASONS FUNDS FROM DJJ ARE BEING GIVEN TO ALLOW RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE NEW CLOTHES. MEDICAL UNIT NURSING STAFF LOCKS UP THEIR OFFICE AND NOT LEAVING THE INSULIN IN THE CONTROL ROOM FOR THE RESIDENT THAT HAVE TO GIVE HIMSELF INSULIN. 04/19/04 Osceola JDC: Others cowardly sign someone else's name to their filth It's a shame that their are idiots out there that would use this site to air their own personal complaints and grievances, but what's really sad is when they are vulgar and lie and then are so cowardly they sign someone else's name to their filth. This is a very valuable site if it used to help protect the kids and make us all better workers. If you want to remain anonymous that is your right but don't hide behind someone else to spread your rumors and lies. You are the problem and need mental health and we know who you are. Sgt. R. Taylor 04/18/04 DJJ: LT CORRY is now Colonel & will be requesting stripes from Ms. Arnold. HEY CATHY I thing you should reply to DJJ 4-17 LT CORRY. Tell them that you have chosen the title of Colonel and that you will be requesting your stripes to be delivered soon from Ms. Arnold. I needed a good laugh to start my day. Hope yours is good!!!! THANKS TERRY Lt. Corry: How dare you make fund of the hard walking administrators! Just watch out that some of those bad apples don't land where they shouldnit. How in the world can we "teach the children" what to believe when you mess up the process with the symbolism of the bad apple? I mean, for ______sake (take your pick of deities), can't you give a multi-million dollar industry a break? For cry'in out loud, just WHAT is yore problemo? Are you actually trying to say that we should treat children as children EVEN when they've swiped a bunny. Good Grief! What else do you think we should allow this 9 year old obviously career criminal do? Sing the words to "Imagine"? Now THAT would be a crime. Imagine, my foot. What this world needs is more religion, more government, more police, more guns, more Iraqs, more jails, more criminals in suits, more--dare I say it? I think you've got a lot of explaining to do, young lady, and clearly its going to take someone with more rank than you to set you on the road to recovery. The first step is, admit your culpability! Go on, I'll help you. Just say the following words with me. "I admit it, I am an intelligent, caring and sensible human being. I am not swayed by lies or palm trees that proclaim to be great oaks.________(pick your deity), please give me the strength and wisdom to be saved from my intelligence and caring. Let me be like 90% of well, at least the Western world, since it is obviously the only part of the planet that knows the truth." Repeat 3 times, turn clockwise 15 times, listen for the loon, and bury the entrails of anything you find on the roadside,,,,and Imagine!!!! You, too, will join the ranks of the truly enlightened. You will no longer doubt what your government tells you, you will no longer feel that nagging sense that something is wrong--all that will go away. Imagine. Signing off now, I have a sewing responsibility that is long overdue and on which my pride depends 04/16/04 Osceola JDC: You know what F*** DJJ and F*** Osceola!! You know what F--- DJJ and F--- Osceola!!-Sgt.R.Taylor 04/14/04 Osceola JDC: Finally someone has called "A SPADE A SPADE" Finally someone has called "A SPADE A SPADE" I agree that Ms. Taylor has mental problems and should seek professional help as soon as possible. I also agree that she is the most ignorant and prejudice person I've had contact with. She will lie, and talk about you behind your back. It's funny that our supt. Mr Hoffman thinks he has her under his control, the truth is , she has him under her control. Both of our Asst. Supt. are afraid of her. I want to Thank the staff who wrote the latest E-Mail regarding Ms. Taylor. The truth is finally going to be told and expose this "MONSTER" amongst us. I encourage our staff to simply tell the truth, maybe Mr. Hoffman will get the message. Mr. Hoffman, "THE MONSTER IS OFF THE CHAIN" 04/13/04 Osceola JDC: Ms Taylor extensively uses profanity & shows favoritism to her "friends and lovers" ABOUT SUPERVISOR TAYLOR ????? It's very odd that Mr. Hoffman pretends not to know how bad supervisor Taylor is. Ms Taylor is the perfect example of what's really wrong with the Department of Juvenile Justice. How is it "possible" that someone who failed the state certification examination 3 times, lacks any professional qualities, doesn't read, write or speak at an 8th grade level, extensively uses profanity, the subject of numerous complaints, the reason why several good staff resigned, has made many remarks concerning her dislike for Whites and Hispanics, shows favoritism to her "friends and lovers" and has a track record of resentment to any authority, be allowed to remain employed and selected as Supervisor of the year ?????????. Mr. Hoffman, it appears that you got the perfect "SLAVE DRIVER" an ignorant black female who don't give a damn about anybody or anything. Mr. Hoffman it's about time you start paying attention to what our staff is trying to tell you. R Taylor is "IGNORANT, ARROGANT" and needs professional mental health help. Remember, Mr. Hoffman you have allowed her to behave this way, therefore, you are partly responsible for her actions. This is from a staff who cares about ORJDC. 04/13/04 Brevard JDC: there was one kid that the guards used as a batting ram into a glass window I live in Brevard County and read your editorial in the Florida Today. I agree with your statements. I have a close friend in Orlando who also is experiencing the same problems. Both of our Sons are labeled disabled hers is severe learning disability and my Son the opposite but was labeled EH. I have told the administrators that they are trying to make a criminal out of my Son to the extreme even making stuff up just because of one incident. He is now in Adult Ed night School and works full time during the week. My neighbors Son had his leg broken at Eckerd Wilderness camp the same time the 12 yr old boy was killed. His leg was broken again (same one) in the Brevard Juv. jail. He has been involved with the system since he was 9 he breaks the law a lot and has suffered other abuses in other facilities. His mother was told there was nothing she could do. My Son has made a few bad choices hanging out with the wrong kid but basically a very good kid. He was falsely arrested last October on the way to work. The Police did a felony take down after he was about 4miles from home (7am)they could have came to our door. They accused him of shooting a gun at kids going to School and at a bus. He works form 7-4 and these incidences could have not occurred. There is more to the story but to make it short he was taken into custody I was notified 2 hrs later and he spent 17 days in jail (1st time) he was also working a part time job on the week ends and lost that because of this but his other employer understood, he is one of their best workers. He had about 6-7 ct. dates while in jail one time when he was there his case was discussed etc. w/o our Atty. and I notified. I had proof that this was all bogus and the witness for us parent's were told by the police dept. to not get involved. All charges were dropped and unfounded. But we lost $ for Atty. fees, lost wages etc. He told me a lot about what goes on in jail, ex. there was one kid that the guards used as a batting ram into a glass window (I heard the incident over the phone while talking to my Son). The guards live in the same neighborhoods as the inmates & grew up with their Parents so there is favoritism and they do instigate fights among the inmates. We were afraid to do anything about the false arrest because of retaliation from the Police. We both were falsely arrested in 1999 by a School resource officer stemming from my complaints against her and the school for violating my Sons rights. I never have been arrested I am a professional Woman, thank God we were let go at the Police Dept. and not taken to Jail. All was dropped before my Son went to 1st court date and they never showed up to mine so you see how scared they get you. They also use other students to help them to go against the "bad" kids. I of course can go on and on. My friend who lives in Orlando has been thru a lot and is still going thru it. You are right they are warehousing these kids starting with the School system which works hand and hand with DJJ. Even more now to meet the small class sizes and to keep the School grades high. There needs to be a statewide investigation on this. My Son's problems started in 4th grade, he is not add or adhd just smart but has slight Bi-polar anger problems and the Schools do not know how to handle that. During the most severe problem I had was in 2001 and I had cancer at the time so it was affecting him. The School at one time threatened to suspend him for disrespect in class if I did not come down there and acknowledge the Teacher face to face. I was in chemo & radiation and just had major surgery, they did not care they acted as if I was lying. My Daughters were fine in School but one of them was being harassed by her guidance teacher during this time (she is quiet, popular and has never been in trouble at School ever. I had a client who was a Teacher at the School who told me it was because they did not like me because of my Son and me being vocal on his rights. I also busted them via Tallahassee about a form they were having kids sign that were disability students that could not pass the HSCT/FCAT test in which was keeping these Students from getting their Diplomas. They gave me $1000 free tutoring. I could go on and on. Thank-you Jill H. 04/10/04 Osceola JDC: you should not believe what you hear. This is a response to the ignorance that someone wrote about Osceola DJJ officers. First of all you should not believe what you hear. It's funny that someone is giving you info about what they think is going on at the facilities & leaving you & them clueless. No one is thinking about you at all. You must be that guilty about what you did & it must be coming down on you pretty fast. You just showed all your guilt with that unnecessary nonsense. Nobody has time for that foolishness with everything else going on at this time. No one is going to have a discussion on the web with you about this. Just worry about yourself. The saying says it's better for people to think you're dumb instead of opening your mouth and removing all doubt. 04/09/04 DJJ: JDC's state needs to step in immediately at ORJDC. Other centers concur? I am a SJDO in DJJ and I review this website from time to time. It amazes me how much frustration and anger there seems to be at ORJDC. My only conclusion is that the state needs to step in and correct the problems immediately since it is quite apparent that if they don't there will be issues such as what has happened in Miami. I myself have expressed my un-satisfaction with this job in the past on this site but over time my co-workers and I have adjusted to the new policies and procedures and these days our facility is a lot more easygoing. I absolutely believe that ORJDC can do the same but radical changes will have to be made and unfortunately some people will need to be fired for the good of all. I ask that other centers who read this will respond to concur my findings as I'm sure there must be others who feel the same way as I do. 04/09/04 Osceola JDC: Supervisor Taylor-trifling may lead you to lose YOUR job one day! Supervisor Taylor states that she is a team player when in reality she is not.Besides the FACT that she is a backstabber and a liar. You have officers that wander around all day just gossiping and getting in other peoples affairs.(Not to mention that THEY are the ones that are always writting about every other staff in the Justice 4 kids website.) While they should be on the prospective mods. But since they are from her clic(Ross and Fisher)and her ex-lover(Barnes) she just looks the other way and lets them do whatever they want. Besides that fact that she's also too busy gossiping herself. What is it that they call her motormouth. She needs to be sent to a communications class as well as an inter personal skills class. She smiles in your face and sticks the knife deeply in your back. Once you turn around. Another reason why she stilled employeed with the Detention is because she's the one that runs to Administration to speak trash about people. Watch your back with her. Including you Mr. Hoffman she's the one that's been writting those letters to Tallahasee about you. When you speak Supervisor Taylor.....speak the TRUTH and include the dirt that you do while your busy trying to screw other people over with their job. Because you soooo scare in losing yours. Oh you know Administration is sending you to the ITW because of you crying over them sending Carter and Ojeda. You know they really did not want to send you there in the first place. But I guess you crying and complaining to people that it is because you are a female and black. Watch when you talk . Your mouth is too big and you always stick your foot in your mouth. But then too busy trying to be a brown nose up in Administration to make you look good. You are no team player remember that. Because you are only looking out for yourself. Watch yourself. You being so trifling may lead you to lose YOUR job one day! 04/09/04 Orange JDC: "If its not on paper it does not exist." Orange DJJ is solely about HEARSAY. The type of officers that work at Orange are discouraged and treated unfairly. Beginning with the Ads to the supervisors, they are enjoying the bashing among the officers. They cover up for each other when they do or say inappropriate remarks to some officers that is outside the departmental policy. How about when you are being sexually harrassed by Mr. Jenks and Mr. Howard? You hesitate to speak out when you fear retaliation because they will terminate you on the spot. Then there is a supervisor who is afraid to speak out and defend their employees but rather throw them to the wolves. But like they always say "Put it on paper". "If its not on paper it does not exist." The policies that are not implemented in the book is illegal and is waiting for a lawsuit to happen. When it does come about into the open, be prepared to defend yourselves. In the court of law hear say is not permissible. You will need facts to withstand and if there are no facts presented, you will not prevail.Orange DJJ is solely about HEARSAY. 04/08/04 Seminole JDC: Idle gossip and foul language undermine efforts to make things better If constructive, positive critcisms aren't utilized on this bulletin board then consider shutting it down. Idle gossip and foul language do nothing to foster a better working environment and undermine efforts to make things better. Bernie Burawski, Juvenile Detention Officer, Seminole Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Bernie Burawski, Seminole JDC JDO 04/07/04 Orange JDC: In the court of ethics and taste the foul statements rate very close to medically sick Orange- I don't know who your new boss is, but it's apparent he and his staff will have their hands full. From the outside looking in, some of your staff have some of the foulest mouths I've heard since the military. Even then men respected elders, ranking staffs, and the public. I can hardly believe the remarks written from several of your staff. If there isn't a law against some the statements made of people there should be. In the court of ethics and taste the foul statements rate very close to medically sick. Some of the people there need to really seek prayer and possibly professional help. I can only wish you guys good luck, it's obvious you're going to need it. Keep the CHILDREN in mind and you'll do fine. 04/07/04 Orange JDC: One person taking care of 20 or 30 detainees; We need to clean house. It is absolutely difficult to display positive inputs when you are going thru so much mental abuse at work. Day in and day out all negative words floating from all directions. All this is call favortism. Let's start treating the staff like you would like to be treated. We still are short of help. The Senior Juvenile Detention Officers doing the job of the supervisors. The supervisors doing the job of the officers. Take a look at what Ms. Priester is doing. She should be on the floor with the rest of the supervisors. What she is doing now the officers are doing. If not she needs to take off her white shirt. Why waste state money? Ms. Priester I am sure you will probably do a better job on the floor than training. You got a lot to learn. Things are still the same. Training is still a priority. We are suppose to make the detainees a priority but...we still have so much shortage of help. The mods are left with one worker. Sometimes a female watching males and males watching females. Almost everyday it is the same frustration. Especially on Thursdays when it is training day. If you do not attend training they will write you up. They prefer to leave one person taking care of 20 or 30 detainees. Of course all this has been going on for so long that it is a daily routine. Mr Young never did anything to make the detention center a safe place. Many times we would approach him about different problems and he would never get back with us. I am so sure that Mr. Isbell will be doing a better job. We keep reading comments about how some workers get to do all the dirty work while others do hardly nothing. I am a witness to all this. We need to clean house. We need to be fair to everybody. Let this mental and emotional abuse stop right now... 04/07/04 Orange JDC: Lets start off on the right foot we now have a new superintendent Before you go online trying to talk about an unrelated issue, Please check your grammar. You sound very illiterate. That's old news now let sleeping dogs rest. We all know that you are not the same person whom wrote the first entry. Ok! Stay off the website displaying negative behavior and language. Lets start off on the right foot we now have a new superintendent don't let him come into all this bull crap. Let's get the job done. We should all display positive behavior even if you don't like what's going on . 04/07/04 Orange JDC: Mr. Isbell, now is your time to clean things up, make our messy place shine I come on this site from time to time and I must say. Some good things have changed, yes now we are getting socks and underwear for our detainees, and yes now the girls have combs. Yes, we are even getting enough mats for the kids in our custody....Some things will never change. When ADS Jenks makes statements like " if you don't like the changes, you can always file a grievance, however I have the last say, and to tell you the truth it won't go far" is very surprising to say the least. If you read between the lines what he is really saying is like it or leave. I think that was half the problem with Mr. Young. He just did not know what was going on, because no one ever brought it to his attention...We now have a new outlet and that is going straight to the new superintendent. Mr. Isbell. He has to listen, and if he is smart he will listen. We are not just a bunch of disgruntled employees. We have legitimate complaints...Yes Mr. Isbell it does start with some of the supervisors and ADS. They will tell you what they want you to hear, and that is to save their own asses. Mr. Superintendent let me ask you this? Why are some of the new cadets, that are coming straight out of the academy, getting weekends off. Some have only been out of the academy for a matter of weeks? Then you want to switch some of the people that have been there for a year or more having their days off changed? If the new cadets were to work the weekends, that would eliminate the fact that other, long time staff should not have to have their days off changed. I will tell you why. Mr. Isbell, these staff are young, inexperienced and all they have to do is give a pat and a wink to get their way! As far as Butler, Howard and Jenks making the statement that they put certain officers in certain positions, because that is there strong point. Ask yourself this. How is the weak staff ever going to learn to be strong? Everyone needs to be rotated on each shift. This will eliminate burn out, and resentment. And how do you think that makes the rest of us feel? As far as the famous Officer T Martin, when was the last time she worked a mod? Is she that good that she can only do rover and confinement? Does she really think that she is there to be a mentor? Yes, Ofc. Martin it is nice that you can talk to these troubled kids about their behavior, but don't you think the rest of us do this while we are working the mod too? Do you really think that you are the best at emptying trash? That none of the rest of us can hand out shampoo and pass out snacks. You can defend yourself all you want. You make me sick and your little buddy Ofc. Griffen is even more sickening. It is a known fact that if a poll was taken, she would absolutely get the worst attitude award. We are all on to you. Also Mr. Jenks you made the statement that you only want one person from both annex's to have holidays off!!! Well that is unacceptable...plain and simple...It would also be almost impossible since every request that Ofc. Martin has put in, until 2005 has already been approved! We all noticed there are a lot of requests in the folder, but only YOU, Ofc. Martin has been approved. You wonder why people call in on the holidays? That is why! Did you know that Mr. Jenks? How about you Mr. Isbell, did you know that? Yes, Mr. Jenks laughter would be nice at work, but the only people laughing are the people that get away with this shit. They are not laughing with us, they are laughing at us. And we turn around and laugh at management because it is just amazing that no one has caught on. Obviously there was nothing done about the officers that were stealing time. We did not have time cards for months and months. Ofc. Griffen signs in OFc Martin, and vice versa. The ADS and superintendent just don't want to be bothered, because that would make them look bad...But beware, because you are now under the microscope...You are being watched from all angles!...Yes, the tables are being turned...Remember what you tell us, if it is not on paper it never happened, or did it? There needs to be an independent investigation, and my next letter is to the governor, and it is easy to access, in fact it can be done right from this web site! I lose sleep over this unacceptable behavior, and I hope that those that this letter is directed at, can sleep easy, but trust me it won't be for long and you will be tossing and turning too. Mr. Isbell, now is your time to clean things up, make our messy place shine! Please! Don't be afraid to call some officers aside and ask them in private if there are issues that need to be addressed...You will gain a lot of respect that way. Not to mention insight. Get to the root of the problem and nip it in the bud! 04/07/04 Orange JDC: If they are stealing from the state let them be 04/06/04 Orange JDC: plain stealing from taxpayers; look up the daily logs I would like to really know why nothing has been done about Griffin, Martain, Howard and Butler. They all stole from the state of Florida. Its one thing when you come to work and get paid for it but when you stay out all night s----ng you supervisor all night and can't come to work and then he pays you for it like you were there and you were not that is stealing. I wonder if a few taxpayers would like to know what is going on?????and also nothing is being done about there jobs when they are at work. They still work rover and confinment even when there is only one deatainie in confinement they still both work togeather, what does it take two gauards to watch one person every five minutes?????? and what about the mandatory meeting a few weeks ago for Mr. Young neither Griffin or Martain were there but did they get disaplinend. No they got f---ed by there supervisor. Can't any person look up the daily logs and see that they were paid for days that they were not there. That is plain stealing from taxpayers, and what about all the days they have off, from now till next year what about us my brothers and sisters we all want time off to be with or familys. If something is not done about these four people I will send a letter to the governor and see if his people can look into it. I have waited long enough since I first say this on the internent and not one thing has been done. so the higher ups better look into this or the governors people will. they should all be fired for stealing.,and I'm tired of pulling blue dots because Griffin and Martain didn't show up again but then you check the logs and it shows they were there look at master control sheets to see who signed in they didn't.....??????????????? 04/06/04 DJJ: the quiet truth will penetrate the loudest nonsense Tonight I finaly read the e-mails submitted by several of my co-workers. I must say I for one am truley amased and deeply disappointed for several imediate reasons- 1. For the past 20+ years while working with youth and co-workers I never imagioned people would stoop to the kinds of open disrespect for coworkers and supervisors. 2. What is the charter of an individual that would throw stones at a person in the dark without substance or reguard for accuracy. 3. I work with some of these people. and 4th, These people as few in number as they may be actualy work with our youth. After reading these e-mails I'm sure this e-mail will fall mostly on deaf ears but sometimes the quiet truth will penetrate the loudest nonsense. If not for a strong constitution and understanding of respect for people I too could be pulled into this overwelming cess pool of negativity. Fortunely for me and the other 95% of the staff at DJJ I have had the privalege of working with an outstanding group of staff and educators. In closing, I say this not in spite, but food for thought-If you do not enjoy the challange of attempting bring about a positive change in the lives of youth and your surroundings as a whole, you may trully be in need of a career or enviroment switch. The youth in our care are always in need of a few more good men and women to respect and look-up to. 04/04/04 Orange JDC: Raggett is a tyrant who is ruthless No Chain Is Stronger Than It's Weakest Link ! The staff who wrote "It's A shame that Mr Young is leaving" is one of the weak links in the DJJ chain. If you think that Bill young was not the main problem at ORJDC, simply put, YOU ARE "STUPID" and you really need a reality check. ORJDC is the way it is because of his TOTAL LACK OF GOOD MANAGEMENT, JUDGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP. Any competent manager could have brought ORJDC under control. You expressed some concern about the new Supt, as if he could be worst than Young, I DON'T THINK SO. Young is gone, now we need to get rid of Raggett and Chinault. As long as these two remain, things will not get better. The word is, "Raggett is glad that Young is gone and is hoping that Chinault will follow soon, the last of the good ole boys from central region. My Coworkers BEWARE!! Raggett is not a reasonable or rational person, he is a tyrant who is ruthless and has no regard for the people who work in DJJ. "REMEMBER, I TOLD YOU SO". If you really think Young is so great, ask yourself this, What has he done for you or ORJDC lately? "NOTHING". We have a lot of good staff at ORJDC, they should be the focus of attention, NOT BILL YOUNG. There are other "WEAK LINKS" at ORJDC, look at some of our Asst. Supt. and Supervisors, we know who they are, and they need to be exposed. If we don't expose them, then we will have to live with their incompetence. It's time to "TELL ALL" no matter how painful it may be. Our comments will give the new Supt. some idea where his problems areas are, mayby he can "FIX SOME OF IT". |
