Subject: Leave requested for Pinellas JDC's James Uliasz arrested on DUI

JUSTICE4KIDS.ORG requests that DJJ immediately place Pinellas JDC Superintendent James Uliasz on administrative leave pending the outcome of a DUI charge resulting from his arrest last week in Manatee County.
Those who drive while intoxicated put innocent citizens at great risk.  As Superintendent of a juvenile detention center, James Uliasz is in charge of the safety and security of approximately 100 youth.  If James Uliasz indeed drove a vehicle while intoxicated, his resulting actions could have caused great harm or loss of life.
Someone of this character should not hold a position of leadership, nor be responsible for 100+ children in his care and custody.

James Uliasz booked on DUI 7/25/06 at 6:39 a.m.; released 7/25/06 at 12:18 p.m. on $500 bond.
